雅思口语Part1范文:Text message
1. Do you like texting?
Definitely, I do. Compared with calling, texting, in my opinion, is a more flexible way of communication. I mean you can text when you’re ready and if you are in some public places like on a bus or in the library, texting will not disturb other people but phone calls may do. Also, we can always check the texts for some information because it is in the written form.
2.Do you prefer sending or receiving messages?
Actually, I like both. But if I have to choose one, I would probably say receiving messages. The reason is that messaging someone actually takes more time than reading the texts. What I mean is that when I receive a message, I can grasp the general idea very quickly, which saves me lots of time, while sending a message requires me to organize my ideas and put them into a concise text, which is quite time-consuming.
3.Have you ever received a confusing text message?
Well, sometimes I do. I guess I have got some messages sent by strangers who thought I was their friend. Once I got a dinner invitation by message and surely, I didn't know the sender so I just ignored it. And also, messages in another language are what I have received at times, which can make me feel so perplexed. But at least I can be sure those messages are not for me.
4.In what circumstances is making a phone call better than sending a text
message?
From my personal experience, I reckon that it is more helpful to call someone when it is an urgent situation. Normally people don't reply to messages immediately and some of us even mute the notifications for messages. So, in this case, if we have some emergencies and need to have instant contact with someone, we’d better just give them a ring.
