Last month, I originally planned to fly from Xiamen to Seoul, Korea to meet my friend, Joey. The first time I met her was at the summer camp held by her university two years ago. Back then, we cooked Korea specialties, made handicrafts(手工艺品) and shared traditional customs(传统习俗) such as wearing hanbok (穿韩服), exercising Taekwondo (练习跆拳道) together. After that, I haven’t seen her but we often share funny things in our daily life. She has been one of my best friends. I planned to visit her after the final exam last year. Both of us were so excited that we made the traveling plan in full details including where to take photographs.

I would like to talk about a journey that was happened in early July years ago, which was the month when we had just finished high school. During that period of time, three of my close classmates decided to have a graduation trip to Phuket Island, which was in the south part of Thailand.

I believe the government’s intervention plays a considerable role in developing transportation in rural areas. The reason for this is simple. Rural areas generate much lower profits than urban areas. You cannot expect companies to invest their capital in rural areas if there’s no chance they will get it back. However, transportation in rural areas has social benefits that many companies ignore. Transportation can help citizens living there to have a better life, and it’s the only solution for their unbalanced development. So, the government must shoulder its responsibility to help every citizen no matter where they live.
