I’d like to describe an interesting animal I once saw, which was a stray cat. I remember it was a small black cat with a long tail. Actually, there are many stray cats in our community, and their number is growing because some of the residents like to feed them.

It happened a few days ago, when I came back home from work. After I got out of the elevator, I saw this small creature standing outside my door. It just looked at me as if to say, “Hey, I’m a little hungry. Can you give me some food to eat?” I opened the door and let the cat in. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any food that I could feed it with, so I just poured this poor thing some milk. It drank it and then left.

To be honest, I am not quite keen on animals but talking about this topic, the animal that comes to my mind is the blue whales. I saw this kind of giant creatures on television.

The blue whales are really big. At birth they are about 7 meters long and weigh 2 tons. The young whales stay with their mother until they are one year old. During that time, the baby whales learn to survive in the ocean. The mother whales teach them how to hunt and fight off enemies. When young whales become adults, they are 35 meters long and weigh approximately up to 130 tons.

I haven’t seen many animals that are interesting, but there’s one that deeply rooted in my mind. It’s the elephant called Gee that I saw in a zoo near Bangkok, which is the capital of Thailand. This elephant is not so big and tall like his companions in the zoo, he is even older than other ones but has given me and other tourists really impressive experience.

Actually, I have been to Thailand for two times. It’s been quite a while between these two times visiting this place. However, Gee soon recognized me and used his long nose to hug me, which made me feel extremely touched and amazed. How could it be? The zookeeper told me that most elephants have a longer memory, sometimes even longer than humans do. Do not copy or repost it. Perhaps the most interesting animal I’ve ever seen is the Koala.

I have always held this indescribable craze about Koalas since I received a fluffy (毛茸茸的) Koala doll as my birthday present when I was only five. However, I didn’t have the opportunity to see a real Koala in Shanghai Zoo until last year. As a matter of fact, when I saw Koalas in the Zoo, most of them were sleeping. According to the Zoo keeper, koalas are asocial animals that must limit their energy use and sleep 20 hours a day as a result of the fact that their main diet, leaves, only provide enough energy to keep them awake. Plus, they are predominantly (mainly主要地) active at night and spend most of their waking hours feeding.
