There are a large number of quiz programs I watched on TV and that made a deep impression on me, but today the one that I’d particularly like to introduce is Chinese Character Dictation Contest, which was regularly broadcast at 20.00 on Friday during summer holidays on CCTV 10, one of the biggest educational channel in China.

It is a large-scale original cultural TV program launched by the central radio and television station and the national language commission in 2013. 160 students from mainland China, as well as students from H.K. Macao and Taiwan who have received education in the mainland were invited to form 32 teams. Every Friday 4 teams consisting 3 members each competed with each other and the team whose members could write down the correct Chinese characters quickly and achieve the highest score won. The wining team of each week finally competed together and the overall winner would be decided by the audiences and a panel of judge. As you can imagine, the overall winner, like in most quiz programs, was awarded.

Personally, I think there are two major reasons. Obviously, watching TV shows is the best way to make people relaxed, because most TV programs are entertaining and can let people forget boring daily routines.
