Last month, I was, as usual, working out in the gym, running on treadmills or lifting weights to build my upper body muscles. At the end of the practice, just as I was wrapping up my training, I saw two concert tickets lying by the window next to me. There was nobody around. I called out on the entire room to ask who the tickets belonged to, but no one answered. As I took a closer look, it was the VIP tickets to a concert put up by Jay Chow, probably the most popular Asian artist for the last two decades. More urgently, the concert was scheduled that night in two hours. They must belong to gym members who worked out there earlier that day and perhaps the person hadn’t realized he lost his tickets.
It’s VIP front-row seats, where fans can literally see the star face-to-face. Apparently, the person must be crazy about the celebrity enough to pay such exorbitant price for a two-hour concert. How disappointed and frustrated he’d be if he found out his tickets were gone. I took the initiative of requesting front-desk receptionists to check the members that have been in the gym earlier. I am no expert in this, so I wouldn’t be able to give you any professional opinion, but my best educated guess would be they either hoard stuff out of strong interest or wait to resell them for a profit. But even for those with financial motives, they must have loved the collections, coz for it’d probably take years for the value of collectible items to rise
