There is a very cozy cafe and bakery called “Mayfive” near my school. The owner is a kind Taiwanese man named Ken and I feel more than glad to know him.

One day, while I was at “Mayfive” having my morning coffee and doing my homework, Ken came over to ask me to try out their newly developed ice cream. Who says no to free ice-cream? I happily tried some and we started to chitchat(随意聊聊). I know that Ken is about fifty years old. He used to work for a semiconductor company when he was younger, but he never gave up his dream of opening a coffee shop. I would like to talk to you about my best friend Chantelle. We have been friends for 5 years now and are very close. She has been there for me on my good days and cheered me up on my bad days! We like to go to the gym together, go out for lunch or dinner together, and watch movies together.

We met 5 years ago when we worked at a pharmacy together. We don’t work there anymore, but we are still very close friends. She is very encouraging, inspiring, and supportive. We studied teaching together at university, and she always encouraged me to reach my goals and was always so kind to help me out with my assignments. She helps me feel empowered and helps me believe in myself!

1.How can children feel happy?

I think children can feel happy in multiple ways. For instance, I remembered when I was a kid, high scores in examinations would make me happy because I would win admiration from my fellow classmates. I guess accomplishments can make children happy similar to the way they make adults happy. Moreover, as a child, I would be very delighted if my parents bought me sweets or toys. Another source of joy I had as a kid was watching cartoons on TV because the characters always made me laugh and I would have more things to share with my friends after watching the latest episode.
