I would like to share a situation when I was surprised to meet a friend. It took place during my last summer vacation when I had to go to the local clinic because I had a fever, and that’s where I met my childhood playmate Alisa. It was extremely hot so I just stayed in the air-conditioned room all day long and had a lot of ice cream. Unfortunately, I caught a cold and was experiencing a severe fever. As a consequence, I had no choice but to(不得不……) go to the doctor in order to relieve my pain and lower my temperature through medication and treatment. A time I felt quite surprised to meet a friend happened about three months ago when the lockdown for the Covid-19 was completely over in our city.

The person I met was my bestie, Li, whom I haven’t seen for ages since the outbreak of the virus. I remember it was a sunny weekend in that month, but I couldn’t remember clearly which date it was. I bumped into him while I was waiting in a line to grab a meal at Meizhoudongpo, which was a popular local restaurant of the southern Chinese food.

My college friends and I used to spend all of our time together, going to classes, the canteen or the library, but now we are all working. We couldn’t have gotten together even if we were still living in the same city. We text but it’s not the same.
