范文1:

Depression is very common not only among adults but also among teenagers and something I suffered from a while back. I didn't actually know what depression was until the doctor told me. I was shocked and also felt very anxious. Then I started receiving treatment and realized I could manage it carefully with exercise and medication.

It started when I was in high school. Everything was going well until I took my first midterm exam. I didn't do very well and my parents were very disappointed. Following that they put even more pressure on me to do well and to be honest, it was too much.  I felt myself becoming more and more depressed and I didn't know what to do. Well, I wanna talk about a painful experience I had back in high school. Actually, I believe many people are quite familiar with rhinitis, a chronic illness(慢性病) that can cause you so many troubles in daily life! It’s an inflammation of the inside of your nose.(鼻腔内部发炎) Look, it’s not a killing disease, but it definitely tortures you!(它并不是致命的疾病,但是真的特别折磨人).

Well, I got it because I went to this boarding school, where the medical conditions were poor. I didn’t see the doctor in time when I got a runny nose. It just slowly developed to be rhinitis.

Anyway, breathing became a difficult task for me. I sometimes felt like I was a fish swept out of the sea, lying in the dry sand struggling to survive(有时候觉得自己像脱离海水的鱼,在干燥的沙塘上挣扎存活). Yeah, just imagine it! Even worse, I couldn’t help snoring when sleeping. I heard complaints from my roommates all the time. Yeah, high school was already hard work. 1.Compared to the past, is it easier for people to get ill now?

Well, yes and no. In the old days, many people got ill because of the bacteria in water, food, and soil. The bad living conditions gave a pathway to germs. So, illnesses such as dysentery, hand-foot-and-mouth disease etc. were easy to catch, and they spread fast!But nowadays, people are more likely to get three highs, high pressure, high blood sugar and high blood fat. Besides, there are many newly developed illnesses like coronavirus and AIDS that were unheard of in the past. So, it depends on what kinds of diseases we are talking about, I guess.
