I work in the data mining(数据挖掘) department at an internet company in Guangzhou. As it is really expensive to live in the city and I want to save my salary to relieve my financial burden, I decide to settle down in the suburb Huadu District. The problem is that I need to commute to work (通勤上班) on a daily basis (每天). Although the apartment that I rent is in a complex equipped with shuttle buses, I still need to spend 3 hours commuting every day.

Basically there’s nothing I can do during the three hours. Reading in the bus really gets me sick and the noise prevents me from listening to anything from my headphone unless I turn the volume up to maximum which is really damage to the ears. I had to bump along a dirt road (一路颠簸回家) in the shuttle bus. This hour-long commute has haunted me (让我觉得很闹心) everyday.

1.Do you think relaxing is a waste of time?

Relaxing is not a waste of time. In fact, it allows us to do things more efficiently. Relaxing can effectively prevent fatigue, and fatigue is a signal naturally reflected by the body, reminding us that a part of the body is overloaded. If ignored, it will increase the burden on the body. Therefore, once a warning signal appears, it is wise to return the overburdened parts to normal. Everyone should do things without fatigue, and dragging a tired body and mind will not achieve much. When you are tired, you have to take a rest. After you rest, think and do it again.

2.Should parents help their children manage their time?

I think parents should help their children learn how to manage time by themselves. Parents always help children arrange everything. Over time, children lose the ability to manage time. If you want to make them become efficient people, you must make them understand time management. In fact, in the eyes of children, time is an extremely abstract concept. We all hope that children can establish the concept of time, hope that they can complete one thing efficiently, and hope that they can manage time well. Having said that, the understanding of time is not innate and needs to be gradually learned and cultivated. This then needs the help of parents.
