I want to talk about Rosie, who I met once on a friend’s party last month. Well, Rosie was from England. To be honest, I would guess that she grew up in China if she had not personally told me that she was born and brought up in England, ‘cause her Chinese was impeccable!

Anyways, I think she is just so amazing mainly because I was drawn to her absolutely beautiful thoughts. She was an environentalist(环境主义者). Apparently, she went for so many protests against big manufacturing factories pouring toxic water into the river. Also, she organized multiple events to promote new energy vehicles. She was very much concerned about climate change, as well as people’s well-being. Besides, she advocates for animals’ rights. (她提倡动物权利) She became a vegan at the age of 12. She insisted that all lives deserved to be cherished. No one has the right to take another’s life. Anyone who does that is committing a crime, a murder. Oh my god, I was impressed!

Traditionally, people in China just make friends from their social circles of classmates and colleagues with no more options available to them. But now things are pretty different. I mean we now tend to break into our social scene by stepping out to know someone new as well. Let’s say, traveling. It’s in general a great way to make friends. As far as I can tell, people are likely to have a close-knit group of people when they’re on a journey. Well, it doesn’t have to be hobby or interest, as long as you have something in common. In most cases, I would say that people make friends because they either have the same personality or are mutually complementary in characters. To be honest, I think the first quality for a best mate to have should be that, they need to be the first to break the ice, not just sit there and wait for the others to talk to you.
