1. What are the positive and negative effects on society of waiting?
Well, waiting is an inevitable part of life. Even people highly skilled at multi-tasking and time management cannot avoid waiting at some point in their day. Whether it be traffic lights, checkout lines or doctor’s surgeries, there’s always something to wait for.
I cannot think of anyone who enjoys waiting. If we’re being honest, waiting doesn’t usually elicit our best qualities. Sometimes it makes us anxious and even causes us to doubt whether certain things are going to happen or not. If the waiting takes too long, it can also force us to change pre-made plans, which wastes our time. The end result is a less efficient society, and a more annoyed and stressed out population.
2. Compared to the past, are people less patient now? Why?
Yes, most of us are impatient nowadays. Everybody wants to gain things immediately. Nobody has patience. Everybody fears failure. Failure is the main reason for the lack of patience in society. You see, nobody wants to waste time and so everybody’s scared to give time to anything risky. People think that whatever’s going to happen, it should happen now, without any time being wasted. 3. On what occasions do people usually need to wait?
Well, generally, people need to wait for things that are really important and time-consuming. 4. Who behaves better when waiting, children or adults?
