With the world economy continuously being trapped by ongoing slowdown, unemployment rate, especially of young people, has become the major concern of government worldwide. Under such circumstances, some people claim that it is necessary to be realistic and take future career development into consideration when young people are seeking jobs. However, others still insist that young people should be allowed to choose jobs as they please.

Admittedly, those who could seek a decent job out of their interest are quite lucky, because they would probably be the most motivated and creative one in their favored field. To be specific, since people can work according to their interest and personality, they tend to devote their passion, creation and energy into what they are undertaking. As a result, they may be easier to become successful in their position, which would bring them the sense of achievement and the realization of self-value. By contrast, if people are compelled to work simply out of the consideration that the job can provide them with a reasonable salary or promising future development, they tend to become unsatisfied with their work more easily, which may generate depression or sometimes resentment.

On the other hand, a large number of young people have to choose their job with some realistic factors. Take college students，for example, many of them are supposed to think over the salary provided by their potential employers, simply because to survive is what matters much. Apart from this, job security and future development would be other factors that hinder their free choice, even when they have some desirable jobs on their mind. This is why plenty of graduates in China, especially those from top universities, tend to be enrolled in state-owned companies and even become a member of government agencies.

In my view, realistic factors should be taken into consideration when young people are hunting jobs, since material return is one of the factors contributing to job satisfaction. However, this does not necessarily mean that they would give up their dream and interest forever. After the accumulation of both wealth and experience, it is very likely for them to strike a balance between their ideals and reality.
