范文：Twelve years into the new millennium, unprecedented changes have happened to virtually every aspect of society, including the approaches of criminal acts as well as their resulting influence. Consequently, how to punish and remold these law breakers has turned into a case that bothers citizens and governments across the world. Some believe that imprisonment shall be the sole solution to all illegal behaviors. I am, however, not convinced by that.
More specifically, there are three reasons supporting my submission. In the first place, labor punishment is more acceptable for those criminals who have not caused serious damage. In other words, imprisonment might lead to aggressive attitude towards society because they believe they are not bad enough to go to jail. Besides, sending certain proportion of lawbreakers to serve in local community will help to ease to the shortage and burden on prison policemen. It surely is a noticeable budget for both regional and national government, but working for communities could reduce the pressure and raise prisoners themselves. On top of that, serving in local places can also make criminals realize their own value and be aware of the happiness of being a good social member.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that labor punishment may bring certain risks. To begin with, some of them may escape during the work because it is impossible for local community to guard them just like in prison. Moreover, most of those who have committed minor crimes are teenagers. Therefore, the labor work they are capable of doing is fairly simple that could be accomplished by local people, while those really urgent jobs cannot be given to youngsters.
To sum up, even though labor punishment might be confronted with potential risks, I am still firmly convinced that allowing a group of criminals to do work for the local community is a practice that are worth trying worldwide.
