These days many famous people win respect from the public by showing their support towards international aid organizations. However, opinions on whether their actions can bring desired results are deeply divided.

On the one hand, it is true that celebrities like super movie stars, singers and professional athletes can draw public attention by showing their care for international problems. As these famous people are always the center of media attention, their words and actions either in daily life or in the virtual world are more likely to be publicized. If they show their stand on a certain issue, this problem may soon get known to their fans and concrete actions may follow. For example, a certain super sports star advertises in a public advertisement calling everyone to stop wearing fur, his/her adorable fans might not only follow this petition but also do something for animal protection. Therefore, there is nothing wrong for famous people to bring the problems to the public, as more people can come up with more ideas and solutions.

Whatever celebrities do can often arouse common people’s attention due to their large popularity. However, when it comes to international aid organizations, people’s opinions differ with each other as to whether the support of public figures makes the concern a blessing or curse. As far as I am concerned, the support from celebrities counts more.

Some people take the view that the attention from public people can highlight the problem form international aid organizations. This is due to the fact that celebrities are living under spotlight and often appear on newspapers and TV programs, which means that what they do will be magnified under the scrutiny of ordinary people. If these brilliant figures set a good example for the public, like raising the funds for impoverished students in remote areas, citizens will think highly of them and thus follow the behaviors of those celebrities. As a result, some heat and serious issues could be solved as soon as possible.

On the other hand, others believe that support from public people may distract people’s attention from the problem itself. As famous figures often live in an extravagant lifestyle and possess huge cars and houses, citizens often think celebrities are wealthy enough to bear the expenses of international aid organizations, thereby freeing themselves from taking the responsible for helping wretches. In addition, a large number of fans just give priority to the celebrities themselves rather than what their idols do in such charity events. This explains why some international aid occasions do not reach their expected outcomes.
