These days old people are often seen in the job market competing with young people, either because they have to or because they just do not want to stay idle after retirement. This essay will discuss problems that might be brought by this trend and put forward moderate suggestions.

One possible issue is that old people, due to lack of sufficient physical strength, might not be able to find jobs that they desire. Many industries nowadays have set specific requirements for health conditions and old job seekers are not in an advantageous position. For example, some job duties include frequent business travel or working overtime during a certain season. Compared with old jobseekers, young candidates who are physically stronger are more popular among employers. Therefore, old job seekers are more likely to lose job opportunities and stay unemployed. Without steady income and guaranteed pension benefits, their life will be extremely difficult.

Another problem is that young people might find it difficult to compete with experienced senior professionals. Unlike labor-intensive industries, some knowledge-intensive trades value job candidates' work experience.

Therefore, employers prefer to recruit older people with higher working efficiency rather than those who just graduate from the university. In addition, without a decent job and salary, it is extremely difficult for young people to make a living and raise their families, and this poses a threat to social stability since some of them might commit a crime to make a fast buck.
