We cannot lead a quality life without health. Therefore, I definitely agree that the high priority for governments is to ensure basic living conditions for their people by providing a clean and big enough living space. In this way, the likelihood of being infected with diseases can be reduced to the minimum.

Unlike the the past,the modern times witness various forms of pollution, no longer restricted to air pollution attributable to car exhaust or river pollution resulting from factories' chemical waste discharge. A case in point is that in the agricultural sector, farmers are increasingly using chemical fertilizers to cultivate crops. Pursuit of profit blinds them to the long-term harzard of soil deterioration, which inevitably produces food with heavy metal residue. If governments do not take measures to curb the growing contamination, the ultimate price would be people’s health.

There is no doubt that people’s health will be influenced directly or indirectly by the environment and housing condition. Whether governments should focus more on the environment and estate has triggered a controversy. I feel that individuals should take more responsibility for their well-being other than governments’ increasing attention.

Indeed, the environmental problems and housing conditions are two main sources for illness and diseases. In many large cities in northern China, haze weather has become a daily killer, especially causing respiratory diseases in winter. Also, populace will easily access to viruses and bacteria if they live in a poor housing condition without any advanced sanitation. Therefore, governments should give more attention and higher investment in these two areas.
