Automation has revolutionized our lives in every aspect since the birth of the computer. And people have never stopped discussing its effects. In my opinion, the benefits resulting from the gradual takeover of machines in our daily life and work far outweigh its drawbacks.

The most glaring advantage is the increased efficiency in the manufacturing industry. A sophisticated assembly line can replace thousands of workers who are likely to get tired and make mistakes while doing repeated work. Thus, with greater precision, the quality of products improves, which satisfies both companies and markets. Also, with the popularity of intelligent machines in construction and mining industries or even rescue tasks, danger can be reduced to a minimum. Reports like miners getting trapped and finally dying would be a history. The more exciting effect, I think, is that when modern machines help us do the housework, we can liberate ourselves from tedious routine work, and save time for more hobbies or spend quality time with family members or friends.

When it comes to the issue about how to judge the phenomenon that human beings are replaced by machines in terms of some hard physical work, some people argue that it may bring more detrimental effects, but I cannot agree with this opinion.

Admittedly, this phenomenon will lead to a higher rate of unemployment rate on the society. Employers are rational individuals who will consider the economic profits of their enterprises. Compared to human beings, machines could create more profits for a company, which will probably lead to a fact that employers just fire unnecessary employees to cut their budgets. As a consequence, the unemployment rate will be higher. Nevertheless, there still exist more pros if machines substitute human beings in terms of some specific jobs.
