As globalization is in essence the assimilation of developing societies into developed ones, my greatest concern is that national economic potential is confined, national identity is gradually lost and even individualism gives way to peer pressure. Take iPhone for example. The publicity of the product and its creator – Steve Jobs is so overwhelming that young people in China are all keen to possess one no matter how much money they earn and what functions of the mobile phone they really care to use. It is a common scene that people around the world are now purchasing clothes with the same brands,watching the same imported TV programs and movies, which all can be ascribed to the effect of globalization. Nonetheless, it is detrimental to the protection of traditional culture and global diversity, considering that such phenomenon tends to affect people’s cognition and temp them to possess the notion that foreign dominant cultures are superior to the traditional ones. Additionally, itdefinitely impairs cultural development and cultural heritage. When the majority of profit-driven manufacturers catering to global market by means of decreasing cultural features in local products, the public who purchase such commodities are assumed to accept the incomplete value they convey.
