范文1:

The soaring rate of crimes, especially the juvenile delinquency, has become a concerning issue incurrent society. Regarding the treatment of juvenile criminals, some citizens tend to support the proposal of rehabilitation programs, whereas others maintainthat imprisonment seems to be appropriate. My firm conviction is that whether young criminals should be imprisoned or be provided with rehabilitation programs depends on the severity of their crime facts.

As is widely acknowledged, keeping the young offenders in prison may serve to prevent crimes from happening to some extent. If the penalties for crimes committed by the youth were not harsh enough or those young criminals do not receive a reasonable punishment, a high rate of reoffending will be expected among such criminals. It is mainly through jail time that these adolescents are forced to reflect on their illegal behaviors and then they are supposed to become law-abiding citizens again. In addition, the teenage stage is crucial in children’s progression, therefore, it is plausible to compel these ‘lost ones’back to the normal life. Only in this sense, imprisonment may exert positive effect on young law breakers and make them undertake the consequences of their unlawful actions.

范文2:

Juvenile delinquency has become a serious social issue and therefore the debate regarding how to punish those young criminals has become controversial. In my opinion, in today’s China, it is not suitable to send them to prison.

My objection is mainly based on the belief that teenagers tend to be influcenced by their company. One of the major causes for their misbehavior is the bad friends they have made, so putting them in jail will expose them to greater danger, for staying with peers who have gone astray does them no good. What’s more, adolescents are not psychologically powerful enough to see hope for their future. There is every likelihood that they feel inferior to others when they are released and feel such stigma all their later life. Also, in prison, the young will be deprived of the precious opportunity to receive normal education, which would more likely to teach them useful skills and shape them into persons with correct values.
