With the growing connection with the outside world, we become increasingly dependent on news media for government policies, world events, entertainment, travel, social issues, etc.. While such second-hand information feed brings us some adverse effects, it is largely indispensable in our daily lives and crucial in helping us make decisions.

The significance of news media is particularly manifest in the political life, which actually not only concerns politicians but also all adults in a democratic society. Presidential candidates heavily rely on news media to convey their philosophy of managing their country. Likewise, voters resort to TV and newpaper reports to get familiar with the potential leaders, weighing their own interest concerns against those candidates’ promises. That is to say, news media play a role of a platform for mutual undertanding in politics, without which, our society may not be able to run on track.

It is increasingly true that individuals are bombarded with a wealth of news information from text massages, websites and other mass media, which, in my point of view will trigger more undesirable outcomes than the temporary rosy picture it brings.

The lack of long term concentration and distraction are two of the problems that dwarf many advantages the news media bring. Due to the innovation and development of technology, we are more easily to be informed with non-stop news every moment. The news, which is broadcasted frequently, covers a wide range of information which might be too trivial and fragmentary. Although it may hallucinate those who are informed with the news that they are more connected to the world, the recipients are also likely to be put into a dilemma where they can hardly apply themselves to completing some task requiring consistent focus.
