Children's development is associated with the well-being of the family and the prosperity of the country. However, there has long been a debate as to who has the greatest effect on children.

Some people believe that a person's personality and behavior is largely determined by his family. It is generally believed that parents are the first teachers for a child. When a child is born, he starts to watch and imitate what his parents do. Scientific studies show that a person's character is mainly formed at very young age, when he stays mostly with his parents. Parents are the first to help children to learn what is right and wrong, what behavior is acceptable and what role they will play in the world.

On the other hand, other people think that it is the school and the society that has greater influence on children's growth.When children go to school, they meet their peers from different family backgrounds. They learn to socialize with each other and gradually understand the norm of conduct in a community. In addition, in an information society, the media seem to have increasingly larger effect on children. For instance, some children watch informative TV programs, which help to enlarge their scope of knowledge, while some others are exposed to violent programs and tend to become aggressive.

In my opinion, various factors have influence on children's development, be it positive or negative. The education of children is the responsibility of every member of a society, so parents, teachers and the whole society need to create a better environment for the growth of the younger generation.
