In our daily lives, we rely heavily on news for information and entertainment, but unfortunately, we become increasingly skeptical about the truth of news.

I think that most journalists are trustworthy except a few who put priority on catching people’s immediate attention and pursuing a high click rate, which explains the fact that some journalists would report news as soon as possible without verifying the truth of the event. More negative impression is left by entertainmnet news by paparazzi, who often base their reports on a few snapshots rather than face-to-face interviews. However, a majority of journalists are responsible and reliable, or even respectable. I have heard that a reporter, in order to disclose the dark side of the mining industry in China, risked his life by pretending to be a dumb person to be employed. Such a sacrifice was to obtain the first-hand truth and save those trapped workers, who might include disabled people and children who were likely to be abused.

In the ancient times, the transmission of news was a privilege to the upper class. But in modern society, the technology of media has made news available by every common person. Thus, somehow, a question of whether the journalists can be trusted or not has come out due tothe easy access.

From my perspective, it is true that a considerable amount of news has been proved to be false at the end, which, in certain degree, contributes to the dilemma of trustworthiness of journalists. This is because some journalists or media companies stand for certain political position, but more press reports the fake but sensational news with the purpose of attracting more eyeballs and digging out more profits. We, however, cannot deny that most people working in this industry take a serious and unbiased attitude when reporting the news since they are aware of the fact that they must insist the professional ethics, or their short-sighted behaviors will spoil even destroy the
