In recent years, public awareness for the natural environment protection has been raised gradually. The process regarding the expenditure of commodities, however, poses threats to the environment inadvertently. Therefore, elaboration of the causes and solutions can help citizens to better conserve the natural residence around the world.
Numerous evidences can prove that the manufacturing operation of merchandise may be detrimental to the environment directly. For example, daily production of consumer goods often requires a series of complicated steps and a variety of chemical additions, of which the generation process is usually accompanied by an enormous amount of waste discharge. To reduce the cost, certain plants address waste without treatment of toxic materials, which definitely contaminates the living areas. On the other hand, if the consumers cannot dispose and recycle the waste materials with appropriate methods after using, it will become second-time damage to the ecosystem. For instance, a great

Today, prevalent consumerism leads to the production of more consumer goods than people really need, one severe consequence of which is the damage to our natural environment. This can be explained from the following perspectives.
In the production process, we inevitably rely on resources we obtain by exploiting our earth. To keep a factory running 24 hours, we consume more electricity, which means more coal has to be burnt, as it is the major resource for power generation in China. Thus, air pollution would ensue.
In addition, the increase in the output necessitates more packages in delivery. Goods tranferred from factories to wholesalers, retailers and then consumers have to be packaged, unpackaged and repackaged several times, producing much waste. Some could argue that packages can be recycled. Theoretically, we can recycle most. However, people in China, especially in less developed regions, haven’t developed such recycling awareness. They just throw away the unwanted, some of which is nondegradable, such as plastic bags.
