Child-rearing is considered one of the most important things in one’s life. Therefore, I think it is wiser for new parents to take a parenting course rather than follow their own parents’ advice, but a perfect approach to bringing up children well should be based on the combination of what they learn in class and what they observe and practice in real life.

Parenting courses given by professionals are a shortcut to gaining as much information about child care as possible. In such courses, young couples would learn various meanings conveyed by babies’ non-verbal behavior such as crying constantly as well as symptoms of possible physical discomfort. Another bonus is that participants can communicate with each other about child problems and their own solutions and thus gain more useful tips.

In an era where a growing number of people recognize the value of learning, there have emerged courses designed to offer parenting guidance to couples expecting children for the first time. While some people may be willing to attend those courses, I don’t think it’s necessary to do so.

It is commonly argued that just as any other knowhow, the skill of parenting had better be trained by professionals. However, no one can doubt that parenting courses have not gained such popularity until recently in the modern world, which means throughout the history of human being, our ancestors all did a good job bringing up their offspring on their own. Personally, I believe the lesson here is that new parents have this innate capability of nurturing their children without going to trainings. And for all various problems may occur along the way, it is the exact challenges that prompt parents to learn and succeed in raising their children.
