范文1:
With the development of digital technology come the numerous TV channels that have mushroomed into our life. Statistics show globally there are more than 15000 different TV channels, and in China alone, the number is 1300. Many people do not like this development, suspecting the rapid increase of channel number will only lead to mediocrity in quality. While this suspicion may contain a grain of truth, I still believe in more channels mainly for two reasons.
Obviously, more channels provide TV viewers with more opportunities to enjoy their own favorite programmes. As far as I know, some TV viewers are more interested than others in educational programmes which give them knowledge in specialized fields. At the same time, there are some viewers who would like to be entertained and others who would watch TV as a window to the outside world. To cater to the tastes of different viewers, it is important that we have various channels, such as news, music, movies, sports and travel, among others. Undoubtedly, when more and more channels spring up, there may be some poor quality channels, but with many channels competing for viewers, chances are that we can enjoy programmes of higher quality.

范文2:
TV is more than just an electronic system, however. It is a means of expression, as well as a vehicle for communication, and as such becomes a powerful tool for reaching other human beings. Everyday, people turn on TV to study or entertain and hope there can be more options of channels. It is better to satisfy people’s needs for more information and entertainment.
Admittedly, with more channels available, the quality of TV programs declines possibly. To increase the number of programs, TV station has to involve more people in program making or even lower the standard of threshold. A foreseeable outcome will be that audiences are exposed to numerous superficial and intellectually undemanding programs. The poorly made programs may even gradually reduce the level of culture in general. However, people holding this point underestimate audiences’ capability of distinguishing well prepared programs. It is more practical and feasible to allow audiences to choose and support the programs they like. In a word, the market will play the role of evaluation effectively.
