A glance at the pie charts provided reveals the percentage of each household in Europe in the year of 1995 and 2005.

It is evident that the household types containing two people and three people together occupied a half or more in both years. And the figure for the latter saw a considerable increase. Increasing from 20%, the rate of the three people family type then soared to the first place of 35% in 2005. This was followed by the group of two people, with approximately the same rate of 30% in 1995 and 2005. The cohort of one person, however, brought a sustained decline from 17% to merely 2% in 2005.
