The first chart shows the changes in the value of goods traded between China and Australia from 1998 to 2004 and the second chart compares the number of types of goods exported from China in 5 categories in 2003 and 2004.

There was a dramatic increase in the value of goods imported from China from 600 billion dollars to 2800 billion dollars. This rise was particularly noticeable between 2002 and 2004, during which time the value almost doubled. At the same time,the value exported to China grew steadily from 400 billion dollars to 800 billion dollars.
