When it comes to the necessity of teachers in the current era, some people argue that they are less important because students have other sources of information, but I cannot agree with this opinion.

To begin with, knowledge of teachers is more authoritative. It is true that students could obtain knowledge from other sources, such as Internet. However, since everyone can post on websites and forums, it may be difficult for students to tell the difference between right and wrong when they encounter contradictory opinions. Thus, teachers are still necessary as a source of information since they have gained professional knowledge in advance.

In this age, information technology has provided us with so many possibilities that it’s hard to imagine what our lives would be without it. Every person, including students, has become accustomed to its company. Even it is suggested that the technological way of accessing to information is broad enough to replace the role of teachers. However, I think this idea is given without a careful thinking.

It is true that with the help of technology, the workload of a teacher may be minimized. However, the role of a teacher never changes. One thing that should not be neglected is the immature mind of students. During learning, they are not likely to be fully certain about the purpose or method of learning. But a teacher is a person who has a deeper insight into a particular field of interest in which one is engaged. Thus, it would be gravely unwise to eliminate the position of a teacher.
