From primary schools to universities, it is common to see students get distracted at class. The reasons for this phenomenon could betraced to both learners themselves and teachers, so solutions should also be proposed based on the two.

Various temptations around the children would be the main contributor to their distraction at school. Different from the school life decades ago, the younger generations have easier access to technical gadgets such as the e-dictionary, iPad, mobile phone, through which they could entertain themselves by reading e-novels,chatting online or even playing games in the classroom, thus distracting themselves from the studies.

Another noticeable trigger for students to lose concentration on class is their lack of rest. Take the high school students in some East Asian countries as an example. Facing huge competition from the college entrance examination, students have to stay up finishing the whole load of homework and even go to cram school for extra test-taking techniques.Exhausted,they doze off at class and thereafter distract themselves. A minor reason could be mentioned is that some teachers just go over the textbooks or even read the PPT slides at their lectures.Without interaction and stimulants, students are more likely to lose learning interest and divert their attention.

The recent years have been an unpleasant fact that it seems difficult for children to place concentration on or attend to school work. People are trying to find the reasons behind the phenomenon. A careful thinking gives me several reasons why this is the case.

The growing ‘temptation’ is the first to be blamed. Children are faced with many factors that get them distracted. For example, it is not unusual to see a child getting addicted to computer games; the increasing use of a mobile phone among school kids also costs them a lot of time to play on it. Many of the distracting factors are too tempting for children to reject.

Parents should also take some responsibilities for the occurrence of the phenomenon. In this case, the role of being supervisors as parents should work as the way to return children’s attention to study. However, many parents are decreasing such role for an excuse that they are too busy to spend time with their kids. Thus, the lack of adequate and proper supervision gives the ‘temptation’ chances to enter children’s life.
