When it comes to imported foods, public opinion is divided. There are groups who claim that imported foods deprive people of work, as well as bringing diseases to our nation. However, this essay will prove the advantages of imported foods far outweigh its drawbacks.

The possible drawback of imported food is that it will deprive people of work. Local farmers will not be able to compete with the large international market and may stop producing food all together. This would mean that we would have to import even more food, creating a loop of people running out of business. However, that is simply not true. The import-export business includes transportation jobs, marketing jobs and selling positions, thus people are required to keep the process running and the unemployment rate may not increase as it is predicted.

The increasing quality of life as well as the advanced modern transportation ways has allowed people to have access to rich variety of the exotic food products. However, the issue has both pros and cons and it cannot be judged one-sidedly.

The advantages are obvious. Firstly, the growing richness of foodstuffs ensures the provision of nutrition and thus the average fitness level can be enhanced. As is known to all, one’s health condition is closely associated with the intake of the nourishments. To maintain a good health, eating a variety of foods is necessary. Next, it is easy to learn that a wide range of commodities seduces high level of consumption and therefore help to guarantee a stable growth of economy. Numerous market researches reveal that only when citizens’ physical needs are highly fulfilled, can they build up faith towards livings and willing to spend more. Last but no least, the internationalization of food supply enhances the economic cooperation and exchange, which, in my opinion, is another significance of the development. There is no denying the fact that the economic globalization has become an irresistible trend in modern times.
