2017年7月8日雅思写作范文:In many parts of the world, children have more freedom than they used to. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
拥有更多自由的好处:

拥有更宽广的知识面;(a wider scope of knowledge)
善于与人打交道,容易融入社会(deal with different people; adapt to the society)
拥有更多自由的坏处:
孩子往往缺乏自控能力,对未来没有长远的规划;(lack self-control; have no long-term plan for the future)
社会上有些地方并不安全,对孩子的人生安全有危害。(be concerned about children’s safety)
范文1:
Nowadays, children are allowed more freedom than they were in the past. However, the issue has both pros and cons. It should not be judged one-sidedly.
The positive effects are to be expected by parents. First of all, an increased degree of freedom offers children the likelihood to be independent early. Apparently, children who are autonomous are more capable of learning, finding and correcting. The self-cultivation of such abilities contributes to the development of independence. Children are encouraged to be less controlled as parents realize the significance of being independent when children grow up to cope with the growingly fierce competition. Also, the practice exerts positive effect in the fostering of children’s creative thinking. Children are in the process of mental development. They have the inborn features of being curious about new experience. Actually, they learn by it. The more freedom they are permitted, the more chances they access to the objects they fancy. Consequently, both the cognition and perception of kids are built up.

范文2:
Many parents today have trusted their children with much more independence in their lives than in the past. While some people think that it might lead to desirable results, I tend to hold concerns towards this trend.
On of my major concerns is safety. Life is much more complicated nowadays with more potential dangers, but children are not always able to take sensible precautions, because they have less experience of and therefore less aware of adverse consequences. For example, they may have never come across robbery, so they may assume that this can never happen to them. Parents should, thus, intervene to help their children understand and manage risk.
Another concern is in considering long-term interests. Young people sometimes have a tendency to prioritize short-term needs and wants over long-term goals. They may, for instance, choose to attend a sporting event or social occasion rather than study for an exam that is weeks in the future. Parents should help their children by insisting that certain responsibilities are met before privileges are granted.
