The social progress always puts some traditional practices onto debate. It is suggested that in contemporary society, university students should be motivated to concentrate on one subject rather than engage in a variety of subjects. Personally, I don’t think it is a sensible idea.

Initially, it might not be easy for university graduates to find an ideal job if they are one-subject learners in a university. It is true that paying all efforts on one discipline is more likely to train one to be an expert. However, the current job market is so complex that usually a one-area specialist is not capable enough to cope with the challenge of the workplace. It is especially true when one expects to get promoted to an ambitious position. Undoubtedly, a CEO is never competent if he or she is merely sophisticated in a single business domain.
