Nowadays, there is much disagreement over the purpose of education. Some people believe that the preparation of individuals for being a useful person for the society should be the main target of education while there is also counter-argument that education should aim at promoting personal development of individuals. I will discuss both sides before giving my own opinion.

People who think that education should take the provision of useful persons to society as the main purpose put forward that education itself is a social term. No matter in which country, the education system is constructed by the society, led by the government. This is why the public schools play a significant role in the education. In this regard, the schooling should be closely connected with the social demand. For example, the establishment of curriculum and the arrangement of courses should always take the future social development into the serious consideration. In general, the social responsibility of education gives prior to the task of preparing individuals to be useful to the society.

To achieve personal growth and success is the starting point of people receiving education. Only by finding out these answers can a young person be ready to live independently.
