It is true that the relentless use of vehicles has give rise to repercussions for various aspects of society. While I tend to focus on its ramifications in terms of the environment and public health, I disagree to discourage the use of private cars simply because of our apprehension about the potential pitfalls.

Of all concomitants of people’s reliance on vehicles, the most frequently mentioned one is the environmental disruption. For decades, air pollution and exhaustion of fossil fuels have long been ranked high-profile conundrums that exhaust governments, scientists and environmentalists, with greenhouse gas emissions produced by rampant use of vehicle as the major culprit. To complicate matters even more, such a life on wheels has exacerbate the sedentary lifestyle of young generations, thus leading to healthy problems such as obesity, not to mention the increasing respiratory diseases that inextricably stem from exhaust fumes.
