2018年2月10日雅思大作文范文：Some people believe that people who read books can develop more imagination and language skills than those who prefer to watch TV. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In this fast-growing era, the demand for a person’s inner quality has been playing an ever more crucial role in the modern society, which can be best illustrated by imaginative capability and proficient linguistic skills. At the same time, there is a body of opinion which holds that imagination and language abilities can better be improved via reading books than watching TV. From my perspective, people’s imagination can better be aroused though the virtual world in books, while people’s verbal capacity can be better-trained by watching TV.

On one hand, the plot without visual image and sound shock in books stimulates the readers’ mind and provides the sources for his ability of expression. When immersed yourself in novels, people tends to visualize the intriguing plots in their minds and every character ends up being vivid figures; while focusing on reference books, referring management or psychology, people have to relate those examples or terminologies to their own lives so as to fully gain knowledge. In addition, the well-thought literary form that writing features suggests the caution for words and organized thoughts, which manifests the higher standard of language skills.

Modern people spend large amounts of time watching TV as their major leisure activity. But some argue that this trend,in fact ,does not contribute to helping cultivate our imaginationand language skills .Instead ,books can do that . As far as I am concerned ,I agree with them .

To commence with, reading books makes it possible for readers to think critically and independently.The course of reading is also a course of thinking to a large extent .Readers will unintentionally think why the authors think like this and then deeply analyse ,even question the authors' intention .Therefore, books are,by nature,are perfect means of helping readers shape the life values and perspectives of their own,which is of great significance in fostering their imagination .On the contrary , though TV makes it accessible for individuals to enjoy various programs,the majority of viewers tend to just receive information mechanically and passively ,with few creative activities involved .Because the vivid images and pictures have told them everything what they desire to know .Sadly ,this seriously stifles their imagination .
