Indeed , the expanding influence of news media on the society has transformed the way people receive information . And newspaper has consolidated its domination these years as the long-standing and wide-coverage mass media . However, other media is becoming increasingly popular with the public by its merits of being speeding and timely.

The undeniable usefulness of the media in almost instantly providing information about events around the world is largely taken for granted.(力作当然地认为) In the last century, newspaper under took the obligation of(担当责任) spreading the news locally and globally ,which generated millions of newspaper around the world ,like The Sun , The New York Times ,etc. People relied on the papers to know about the local information ,like the supermarket sales, the rise of petrol .Meanwhile, the candidates' names for election of president were also delievered to the citizens by newspaper . They didn't even know the war in another country without reading newspaper. In this case , newspaper has been the most influential mass media which walked into every household and shaped our thoughts(改变，重塑我们的思想) naturally .

Nowadays, there is much disagreement about the importance of newspaper in the learning of current affairs. Some people still insist on the significance of newspaper, believing it the best way to learn about news, while others suggest that other media exert more remarkable effects in the availability of news. I will discuss both points of view before giving my own opinion.

People who support the former point of view put forward that newspapers continue to act as the major source of information. Being the most conventional way to access news, newspaper agents accumulate the experience and power to achieve and chase the first-hand information. So it is much likely that the news and reports seen in other media are those copied or transmitted from papers. Additionally, newspapers hold the authority in the provision of reliable news coverage, which is concerned most by the readers. The censorship system of publishing newspapers is more rigorous. The authenticity of news is highly ensured. However, news post on the Internet is rarely collated and the reliability is doubtful
