As technology is advancing by leaps and bounds, the way people communicate with each other has undergone a noticeable and far-reaching transformation. Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether it is a blessing or a curse for individuals to interflow with each other in cyber world rather than real community. For my part, I side with the former to a larger extent.

It has to be admitted that the relationships between people in a machine-oriented society become impersonal. As a result, people might take an indifferent attitude towards what is happening around them, such as air pollution,extinction of wild animals and global warming. Not to mention that (更不用说) lack of real communication between people leads to the language barrier.In Germany, one quarter of the children are plagued with(受到---困扰)smooth language expression, resulting in the unhealthy development of their personality.

The recent years witness the swift popularization of online socialization. The addition of people to it even makes them deliberately neglect the face-to-face communication with their friends in local community. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to the issue.

On the surface, the undesirable outcomes are apparent. The individuals suffer from the practice. The outdoor activities are so discouraged that the fitness level declines. The face-to-face communications are so avoided that people are more emotionally vulnerable and isolated. But the most depressing drawback is that the neighborhood harmony is weakened. The maintenance of the pleasant relationship between neighbors takes the efforts of every one in the community. Being more willing to engage in online interactions, such as gaming or chatting makes people become indifferent to each other and lack a sense of community.
