While some people are indulging in gourment food, some others are suffering from hunger. What is worse, the poor lack of food and education seem to have been trapped in a spiral of poverty unless they get support from outside. As the wealth gap between countries around the world is increasingly obvious nowadays, many problems emerge in this globalized era.

To confront this challenge, financial aid from rich countries has been called for and implemented for many years. Some international organisations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank provide food, tents, medicine and low-interest loans to those poverty-stricken African countries, in the hope of supporting local survival and encouraging education and infrastructure construction. These attempts to fill the wealth gap not only present humanitarianism but also help solve some issues like contagious disease and regional wars.

However, the current severe poverty in Africa, which gets substantial number of dollars every year from outside, proves that simply providing financial aid is far from being enough to eliminate poverty completely. This is because the aid from rich countries tends to be given with ulterior motives such as defense support, market expansion or cultural extension and therefore such aid does not target at general improvement of local countries but at a narrow range of domains. It is hard to imagine that such aid would genuinely benefit the recipient countries. In addition, the donation sometimes is embezzled by local politicians, and in this case, the aid per se helps with corruption in the poor countries.

To conclude, on the ground of both humanism and the stability of international community, a variety of practical aids should be offered to the countries in the disadvantageous position under the condition of strict planning and distributing in order to ensure the desired effects.
