It is not easy to find that television and computer games account for modern children's much time. While some people think that this mayimpair(损害)their mental abilities,I partly agree with that,because these things have both positive and negative effects on children.

Parents tend to focus more on their kids' spending a large amount of time in front of televison screens.Because they believe that their children tend to(往往会)become addicted to televison-watching that will seriously damage their mental power.(严重影响他们的大脑的能力)Also those unhealthy contents,like violence and pornography on those programs,would not only make their children be more likely to go astray(误入歧途),but definitely stifle their children's imagination and creativity(限制孩子的想象力和创造力).This is true if those little kids are exposed to(接触到) naked beautiful females on advertisements or aggressive(具有攻击性的)or pointless on-line games,their mental abilities are believed to be influenced negatively.

With the advent of information age(随着信息化时代的到来), TV and computers have found their own ways into every corner of people’s daily life(深入人心，在日常生活中无处不在). Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether it is a curse(坏事)for students to dedicate a large amount of time to watching TV and playing computer games. For my part, I side withadvocates(正方) to some extent.

No one can conceal the fact that(显而易见) overindulgence in(过度沉溺于)the screen of TV and computers will impose negative influences on(施加消极的影响)children’s mental abilities. To be specific, there is excessive meaningless andindecent information(不良信息)from TV and cyber games. In this case, most children are not equipped with enough ability to distinguish right from wrong andinclined to(倾向于)imitate some misconducts blindly, which will affect their minds adversely. In addition, watching TV or playing computer games for a long time will make children addicted to virtual world(沉溺虚拟世界)and isolated from real society(隔离隔绝). Accordingly, they will suffer from psychological problems on the grounds that humans are after all sociable creatures(交际型生物) who need face-to-face contact regularly.
