As the gap between the rich and the poor is widening, every year many diligent children who reach their school age are deprived of their right to basic education due to their poor family background, which causes more severe inequality. Besides, it is generally believed that the long-term prosperity requires the contribution of numerous talented and competent citizens, which cannot be realised without high quality education. If every child can receive good education when they are young, they are more likely to become responsible social members in the future. Therefore, money spent on education, particularly children's education is rewarding, considering the cultivation of main force for enhancing a country’s competitiveness.

However, we should not be blind to the downsides of government-funded education if we consider the actual financial situation in some countries. As the budget allocated to education is quite limited, some schools are underfunded, leading to the decline of education quality and the brain drain of faculty. Even if the government gives priority to education, it is difficult to see any significant improvement. However, this problem can be addressed through various means such as levying high tax on rich people or encouraging enterprises and organisations to donate money to schools.
