With the widespread use of computers and easy access to Internet, online reading has become a new trend that is popular among modern readers. Some people even claim that printed books are unnecessary and will be replaced by electronic books. Personally I do not agree with this opinion.

There is no denying that digital books have numerous advantages. First, they are easy to carry and tons of information can be stored in a portable technical device like Ipad or kindle. For example, people can read several books almost simultaneously on a screen and can download as many books as the capacity of their computers allows them to. In comparison, one can only read a printed book at a time and have to carry a pile of them if he needs to check the facts in various reference books. What is more important is the considerably lower cost of Internet and the less impact on the environment. As we know, paper-making industry is a heavy polluter of the environment, consuming a large amount of wood resource every year.

Despite all the convenience and efficiency of ebooks mentioned above, there are still a large number of people who prefer printed books. Apart from being an important source of knowledge and information, paper books bring people great pleasure as when they read ,they also enjoy the sweet smell of printing ink form each page. Besides, paper books are considered as the number one choice of gift to children. Many parents also prefer printed books and object the practice of reading online, as 。。。。
