With the growing population and rapid industrial development, the supply of fossil fuels like oil and gas is far behind the demand in many countries. Therefore, some people suggest that developing those remote areas should be a good way to solve this problem.

This proposal sounds practical for the following reasons. First, the increasing pressure of energy crisis around the world will be greatly relieved. As modern transportations like automobiles and airplanes are widely used, tons of gas and oil are consumed every year and this increasing amount sees no signs of ceasing in the future. Therefore, in many developing countries where the demand is extremely high, energy is very expensive and this significantly raises the living cost of many families. If people can find more fuels, this will vastly increase the supply and therefore make the energy more affordable for ordinary people. Besides, tapping into remote and untouched places will bring more job opportunities for people living in those areas. Once the spot has been detected and explored, there will be room for infrastructure construction and hence a strong boost to local economy can be expected.

However,there are some concerns about this practice. First, this would pose a threat to the balance of local ecology and environment if the exploration is not handled properly. The target places are often habitats for wildlife and if they are to be explored these wildlife will have not place to stay. Even if they will be rebuilt after the development, it is hard to maintain their original status. Besides, since these fuels are irreplaceable, sooner or later the new resources will be exhausted and the problem is still unresolved.

In conclusion, there are both potential advantages and drawbacks of tapping into untouched places for energy sources. It might be worth doing so considering more economic benefits to one country that possesses abundant natural resources. However, alternative sources like wind, solar or nuclear power which are cleaner and reusable should be recommended for many other countries with limited natural resources.
