There is a trend nowadays that young people choose to work in the government. Opinions are widely divided as to whether this is a positive or a negative tendency.

Some people believe the advantages for young people to hold powerful positions in the government are easy to note. First, young people with strong leadership skills and great aspiration to serve the public are ideal candidates for the political positions. Besides, the government calls for new blood with international perspectives to deal with tougher challenges they are confronted in this new era. Young people are zealous, creative, and not confined to conventions and are willing to try new things; therefore they have a great vision and spirit to take the nation forward. Moreover, young people are energetic and physically strong, which enable them to fulfill tough jobs.

Other people, however, think otherwise, holding that it is not proper for young people to seek positions in powerful departments. The main concern is that many people choose these jobs simply because they believe government positions can bring them high salaries and benefits without too much toil. For example, in many countries there is recognition among the public that working in government means steady income with no risk of unemployment and social status. Therefore many young people sacrifice their real interest for job security and privileges. Once they take the jobs, they may find those jobs boring and unchallenging. Another problem is that if too many young people prefer to work in the government whose responsibility。。。。
