The bar chart illustrates the percentages of the spending on some commercial products in Europe in 1998 and 2008.
Electronic goods and clothing were the major expenditures among the six commodities in the chart, costing 22% and 20% of the total in 1998 and these figures rose to 30% and 25% respectively in 2008. Eating out obviously took up a smaller part in the total outlay and remained the same proportion in these two separate years, at 16%.
The other three commodities were minor items and all showed a downward trend. Specifically, Europeans allocated 18% of spending to holidays in 1998, but 15% a decade later. Similar sliding trend was also witnessed in the expenditures on newspaper。。。。
