2014年9月20日雅思写作范文:Some people think it is the best way for governments in developing countries to improve the quality of people's life by introducing new technology, while others believe governments should provide free education for better life. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
范文1:
Thanks to the introduction of new technology and more spending on education, developing countries have made significant progress in improving people's life quality during the past three decades. However, the gap still exists and governments' exploration of proper ways for development has never ceased.
Some people claim that technology is the best way to promote people’s life standard. First, technology makes people's life more convenient and efficient. For instance, with the invention of the microwave oven and washer, people now spend less time on house chores like cooking and laundry; therefore they can enjoy more quality time with their family. Another example is that the widespread use of computer relieves people like office clerks and accountants from repetitive and arduous calculation work, making their tasks easier and more accurate. Besides, with the easy access to Internet, people can enjoy online music, video and shopping which greatly reduce the pressure from work. So it is worthwhile to introduce and develop new technologies if people’s life quality is the priority of the government.
Others, however, believe that in order to get a better life for the general public governments should invest more on education. They argue by making education accessible to everyone, people's potential can be fully tapped and finally they can be both financially and spiritually better off. First, when people receive education, they are encouraged to explore their interest and identify their passion. Once people can freely pursue what they are interested in, they will obtain a sense of true happiness. Besides, by acquiring knowledge and skills that meet the demand of the job market, people can earn decent salary and achieve both material comfort and realization of self-value. However, it is not realistic for every government to provide free education, particularly the higher education, considering that many developing countries' financial budgets are quite limited.
In conclusion, I think governments have the obligation to take care of its citizens' welfare through various means. Both investment on new technology and education are essential to improve people's life standard, but governments should make practical policies in accordance with their specific conditions.
