The first chart compares the population density in 6 countries in 2003.
Among the six countries, three showed obvious superior over the other three. Japan boasted the highest density of population in 2003, with the number of people per square kilometer at 340. This figure was followed by Italy (260) and United Kingdom (190). By contrast, there were few people in Australia and Canada. Sweden was the home of 20 people per km2.
From 2003 to 2005 the population in city had risen at different rate in all those six countries except Sweden, which is showed in the second bar chart.
Australia and Canada, the most sparely populated places in 2003, saw a growing number of residents in city in 2005, with the growth rate of 1.5% and 1.3%respectively. In spite of high population density, Japan became more crowded, with 1.1% more urban dwellers. Italy and UK shared similar rise of city population around 0.2% during the period.
