The table illustrates the breakdown of water cost and usage in five cities in Australia in 2004.

Water was cheapest in Perth and Adelaide, both at $0.42 per kilo liter when the consumption was below 125 kilo liter. The prices in Melbourne and Brisbane were double that. People based in Sydney paid the most expensive water among the five listed cities at $0.98 per kilo liter.

However, this price ranking reversed when the amount of water consumed was over to 125 kl liter. Perth and Adelaide charged the highest for water use at $1.5 and $1.00 per kl liter respectively. Meanwhile the other three cities remained their prices regardless of the consumption level.
