The two tables compare Canada with USA in terms of the numbers of international students in two periods of time.
In Canada, there were 5400 students from China during 2002-2003 and this number rose to 7850 in 2003-3004. China was followed by USA which was the home of 5000 and 5450 international students in each of the two periods. The students from India were much fewer, in spite of a rise of 35%, from 2100 to 2835 during the same years. The total of the three nations showed a growth of 17%, from nearly 60 thousand to 70 thousand.
Mean while in America, China was still the largest international student source, and experienced a minor growth from 110,000 to 116,600. There was a similar growth rate (7%) in Canadian students, but much fewer, from 31000 to 33170. India showed an opposite trend to the other two nations, with a drop of 9%, from 18,200 to 20,000.
