The data given in the table present the change of waste production in six countries in two decades.

It is obvious that USA was the major contributor of waste, producing 131 million tonnes in 1980, and this number kept a steady rising trend, arriving at the peak of 192 million tonnes in 2000.

Compared with America, Japan and Korea, two Asian countries, produced much less waste, but they two showed opposite trends. The rubbish produced in Japan doubled from 28m in 1980 to 53m in 2000 whereas the figure in Korea decreased from 31m in 1990 to 19m in 2000. (the number in 1980 is not available)

The other three European countries, Poland, Portugal and Ireland, generated least amount of waste during the same period although they all experienced a rising tendency. The gap among the three in 1980 was obvious, 。。。。。
