What we call junk food including some fast food and many snacks has already scientifically proven to be unhealthy and should be responsible for some widespread health problems. Therefore some people advocate prohibition of the sale of such food in order to combat this situation.

Of course the link between those foods and some health conditions is obvious and it would be ridiculous to argue with this fact. They generally contain salt, fat and sweet in high amount, which is a crucial contributor for obesity and some chronic diseases. The cost we have to pay for consuming these foods is not only our body health but also the expenditure on medical care. Every year the spending on treatment for those diseases associated with unhealthy food is amounting.

However, this does not necessarily justify the ban on those foods. ‘Unhealthy’ does not mean ‘unsafe’. They are lawful, passing through the procedure of inspection and supervision of national food authority and meeting the standard of food safety. It would be unreasonable to forbid their access to the market. These food companies also pay tax and hire workers, making contribution to national economy. In addition, In today’s world, what food is healthy? To be accurate, none. With chemical fertilizer and genetically modified technology widely applied in agriculture, little range of food can be called healthy........
